I have been giving some thought to having just one cart. HyenaCart is how I started and I like the ease of using it, but I really don't need two separate carts...I have a hard enough time just keeping one stocked! I think Etsy has more potential for sheer numbers of views, but HC is pretty much specific to babies...and cloth diapers in general.
Any thoughts or comments from those of you that might use one or both of these carts? I am always interested in hearing what works for you and what doesn't!
So, as a test, I am going to stock over the next month just on Etsy and see how it goes. If it seems to go well, I will stay with Etsy for all my regular inventory stockings and just use HyenaCart when I want to run auctions or lotteries. With that in mind, I have just stocked two new items at Etsy including my first pocket diaper with the redesign I have been wanting to do...it's still side snapping and front loading, but has had a tweak in how an insert will be loaded. I really like it and think it will be more comfortable on baby than a normal leading edge opening.
That's all for now...stay tuned for the conclusion of who's cart is it anyway...

HyenaCart or Etsy?

I have no experience with HC, but I do like the diversity of etsy. i'm able to make trades and things which I don't think i'd do on HC. Also, HC always felt a little snotty to me :o maybe because I've never been on it really, but I've seen too many of the $40 fitteds and stuff there, you know?
Yes, I tend to agree that the majority of business seen through HC is from diaper makers who are the elite of the cloth world. I remember diapers from some makers going for $300 plus back in the day. I guess it's the same as name brand designer jeans going for the same prices...craziness!
The fact is that HC is known pretty much just for cloth diapers where Etsy has everything to wade through...and they don't police the use of tags so someone searching for 'cloth diaper' is going to get hit with burp cloths, diaper bags, etc...for me, I find that so annoying that I won't scroll through the 100 pages of listings. I am sure others feel the same. Oh well...I will see how it goes!
I prefer etsy. Because I don't like the elitism of HC. I generally try to tag all my diapers with 'etsyclothdiapers' and just tell people either to go to my link, or to search out that tag.
Good point Sanity! I should tag all mine that way as well..couldn't hurt, right? I agree the elitism at HC can sometimes be a bit much. I was thinking the other day that while Etsy might not get all the cloth dipe traffic of HC, the listing process, especially uploading pics is much easier with Etsy...that alone makes me lean to the Etsy side!
